Google Messages 2024 Schedule Send Issue Affects Some Users

As we approach the new year, a subset of Google Messages users has encountered a peculiar challenge related to scheduling messages into 2024.

Recently, individuals attempting to schedule messages for events like “happy new year” have observed a limitation preventing them from selecting dates beyond the current day when navigating through the calendar. Although December 31, 2024, strangely remains available for scheduling, other future dates appear grayed out in the Google Messages picker. Additionally, any attempts to manually input dates using the keyboard are met with a red warning stating, “Date not allowed.”

Users grappling with this issue might find a workaround by using the “Tomorrow, 8:00 AM” preset as a last resort. The persistence of this problem in 2024 remains to be seen, with beta updates expected to address this concern post the holiday break next week. It’s crucial to note that this scheduling glitch seems exclusive to Google Messages and does not affect other Android apps, such as Gmail, offering date picker/scheduling capabilities.

While there are several reports of this issue, attempts to replicate it have shown inconsistencies. Our team has successfully reproduced the problem on one device running the latest beta release, but another device with the Messages preview remains unaffected. It’s evident that not all users are currently impacted by this frustrating bug.

As we await further developments and potential solutions, it’s essential to monitor how this issue evolves, especially when transitioning into 2024. Stay tuned for updates on the resolution of this problem within Google Messages.
